The current Premier League season is due to recommence from 17 June, with a full round of fixtures played over the weekend of 19-21 June.
The campaign has been suspended since mid-March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic which has disrupted major sporting events worldwide.
The
Premier League has confirmed that Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal will now take place on 17 June, followed by a full match round beginning on Friday 19 June.
However, due to COVID-19, all 92 remaining matches will take place behind closed doors in order to curb the spread of the deadly disease which has killed hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
This has been confirmed by the Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters, who explained that all 92 remaining matches will be broadcast live in the UK by the League’s existing broadcast partners: Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime.
"Sadly, matches will have to take place without fans in stadiums, so we are pleased to have come up with a positive solution for supporters to be able to watch all the remaining 92 matches," he said.
"The Premier League and our clubs are proud to have incredibly passionate and loyal supporters. It is important to ensure as many people as possible can watch the matches at home."
It has been reported that league officials do not expect a return to normal until a coronavirus vaccine is discovered.
Regarding the issue of some matches being played in neutral venues, the league has explained that it aims to ensure that teams complete all of their remaining fixtures this season, home and away, where possible.
"We are working with our clubs to ensure risks are assessed and minimised, while cooperating with the police at a local and national level."
"Discussions with the National Police Chiefs' Council and UK Football Policing Unit have been positive and are continuing."
"We are prepared for all outcomes and have a neutral-venue contingency," a statement read.
According to Sky Sports, the fixtures set to be moved to neutral venues are Manchester City v Liverpool, Manchester City v Newcastle, Manchester United v Sheffield United and Newcastle v Liverpool.
The Merseyside Derby clash between Everton vs Liverpool is also reportedly likely to be played in a neutral venue where this match could see the latter secure the Premier League title.
