After negative results in
LaLiga ahead of the international break, both Villarreal and Getafe will no doubt hope to bounce back when they do battle at El Madrigal on matchday 10 of the 2024/25 LaLiga campaign on Sunday.
After going on a two-match winning streak, Villarreal last suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on the 5

Over the course of their last five league ties, Villareal recorded three wins and two defeats and currently occupy 4
th on the table.
While Villarreal suffered defeat last time out, Getafe jotted down a 1-1 draw with Osasuna on matchday nine.
Getafe last smiled with victory in a 2-0 result against Alaves at Estadio Coliseum on the 28
th of September.
Prior to their game against Alaves, Getafe failed to record a win in their first seven matches of the season, bagging three defeats and four draws along the way. As it stands, Getafe occupy 16
th position on the log, with eight points to their name after nine league fixtures.
Reflecting on Villarreal’s ambitions this season, goalkeeper Diego Conde revealed that their ambitions are to compete in the Champions League by way of working hard in LaLiga.
“I spoke about the magnitude of the club that I was joining and the hopes I had,” Conde said. You have to positively assess the work the team is doing if you take into account the massive changes that the club has undergone with so many new faces. This good start to the season should motivate us to continue to grow.”
“It’s a top-level league. We’re all very ambitious here and we want to be in the Champions League places, but it shouldn’t be something that is a pressure for us because it’s a year where we’ve made a lot of changes, and we need to continue to work hard, to want to aspire to be there, but without pressure.”
In what was news that came as a surprise to many Getafe fans in the last couple of days, the club recently announced the signing of 36-year-old Allan Nyom.
Now in his second spell with the club, Nyom explained that it was easy to accept Getafe’s offer.
"I'm super happy, the important thing now is Getafe and competing and winning games. I knew the player, the environment, everything. It was very easy to accept that offer,” Nyom said.
"I'll be one more, I'm here to help and contribute my experience and my way of competing."
