Barcelona will attempt to keep the pressure on the La Liga leaders when they welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday, November 22.
The Blaugrana have won their last two matches since suffering a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid which gave their arch-rivals some breathing space at the top of the table.
However, Hansi Flick's side whittled the gap down to three points with a 4-2 victory over Celta Vigo just prior to the international break after seeing Los Blancos held to a 0-0 draw by Rayo Vallecano.
One concern for Flick though, will be his porous defence, who have now shipped 15 goals this season and have kept just three clean sheets in their opening 12 games.
The Lions returned to winning ways on November 9 with a 1-0 success against Real Oviedo, having lost three of their previous five outings, including consecutive defeats to Real Sociedad and Getafe most recently.
The 3-2 reverse at the Reale Arena on November 1 was a bit of an anomaly as it was the first time that Ernesto Valverde's side had conceded three goals in a single game this term.
Athletic's fifth win of the campaign lifted them up to seventh place above Getafe on goal difference, one point outside the European berths.
Valverde expressed his relief at beating Oviedo after picking up just four points from their previous five league encounters.
"It's a weight off our shoulders because victory was essential for us today. The match was so important because of the poor run we were on." the Spaniard said after the match.
"We needed to win again. It's an important turning point and we're much more relaxed now. Victories always help you to gain confidence and move forward."
