On the back of a 2-1
ODI series loss to Pakistan last week, the South African national cricket team will now turn their attention to India in two keenly anticipated tests, starting on November 14 in Kolkata.
While the Proteas go into their next assignment with a 2-1 defeat to Pakistan to their name, India recently suffered a 3-0 test loss to New Zealand, a run of games that made headlines in the world of cricket during the last couple of weeks.
South Africa lost their last two series’ against India, namely in 2015 and 2019. Also, prior to their clash against New Zealand, India have not lost a home series in over a decade.
SA captain Temba Bavuma has returned to the Proteas squad after missing the recent Pakistan tour, while the likes of Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and Kyle Verrynne have also made their way to India.
"Bavuma, along with another player and a few officials, arrived this morning from Bengaluru. Most of the squad including the head coach had already checked in on Sunday," the SA locals coach said.
"So, South Africa now have their full contingent in. There's no activity scheduled at the Eden on Monday. Most likely, both teams will have their first training session on Tuesday."
