Arguably the most dominant force in all cricket history, the Aussies have had a strong-hold on the Cricket World Cup (if not the sport), winning it a record 5 times out of 11, producing some of the best cricketing displays ever witnessed.
They’ve won three consecutive tournaments (1999-2007) and they also hold the record for the most match wins (62) and the highest win percentage (75).

Despite their recent ball tempering scandal against the Proteas, they’ll still go into the tournament knowing they have history on their side.
Highest successful run chase: Ireland v England – 329-7
This clash goes down as one of the greatest matches ever played for a number of reasons, Kevin O’ Brien hit the fastest century in Cricket World Cup history on route to pulling off an astonishing victory over England.
Ireland were 111-5 before Kevin’s 113 runs off 63 balls catapulted them to a shock victory, with five balls to spare.
Most runs scored at the Cricket World Cup: Sachin Tendulkar – 2,278
It is only fitting that one of the greatest cricketers of all time upholds one of the hardest records to eclipse, no one has scored more runs than Sachin in Cricket World Cup history and no one is close to either.
His highest score at the World cane against Namibia in 2003 when he scored 152 runs however it was his 2011 innings that inspired India to World Cup glory.
Fastest double century: Chris Gayle v Zimbabwe 138 balls
Hard-hitting Windies batsman, Chris Gayle, hit the fastest double century om World Cup history on their way to their victory against Zimbabwe in 2015. He hit 16 sixes off 147 before he was out for 215 runs. He also recorded a 372 partnership with Marlon Samuels, which is also a record partnership.
Most sixes scored: AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle – 37
This record for the most sixes at the Cricket World Cup is shared between Chris Gayle and Ad de Villiers. With de Villiers’ retirement, this has provided an opportunity for Chris Gayle to break this record and stand at the summit alone if he can manage this feat at the 2019 tournament.
Most wickets taken: Glenn McGrath
Australia’s phenomenal bowler has lifted the trophy three times and has taken more wickets than anyone else. He made his debut in 1996 and his last in 2007, he’s managed to rack up 71 wickets in 39 games.
He took 26 wickets at the 2007 World Cup which was the most wickets taken in a single edition of the World Cup.
