Scottie Scheffler will be eager to show why he is placed at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings by winning the
Open Championship.
What to know about Scheffler
The American star turned professional in 2018 and he has so far won 21 professional events, including 16 PGA Tour events and two Korn Ferry Tour tournaments.
Scheffler has won three majors (two Masters Tournaments and one PGA Championship), as well as a 2024 Olympic Gold medal.

The former University of Texas at Austin student was in action at the recent 2025 Scottish Genesis Open in Scotland, where he finished eighth.
Scheffler is still placed at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings and has held that position for over 100 weeks.
Why Scheffler is among the favourites
The 29-year-old finished joint eighth on his Open Championship debut in 2021 and he secured another top 10 finish at the 2024 tournament, finishing seventh.
Having won this year's Memorial Tournament, PGA Championship and CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Scheffler will be eyeing his fourth victory of the season.

“I mean, first things first you got to get the ball in the fairway, especially on a new golf course where I’m not as in tune with where and where not to put my golf ball," Scheffler said when asked what the keys to succeeding at the 2025 Open Championship.
“So getting the ball in play is really important. I feel like I’ve gotten a really good feel for the positions on this golf course and where I need to attack and kind of stay, or play a little bit safe.
"So get used to the golf course and I feel like my game is trending in the right direction this week.“
