Following their success at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal will look to claim their second ever continental title when they take on Morocco in the final of the current showpiece at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium this weekend.
Upon topping Group D in Morocco, Senegal bagged a convincing 3-1 win over Sudan in the Round of 16 on 3 January.
Thereafter, the Lions of Teranga met Mali in the quarter-finals as Iliman Ndiaye’s solitary 27th minute strike separated the two sides in a 1-0 win at Grand Stade de Tanger on Friday, 9 January.
Then, in the final four of the competition, Senegal secured their passage to the final via a 1-0 win against Egypt at Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier on Wednesday night. Senegal dominated large parts of the encounter while Sadio Mane’s powerful 78th minute effort on the edge of the area sent the Pharaohs packing.

Speaking after Senegal’s narrow win over Egypt in the semi-finals, the Lions of Teranga coach Pape Thiaw heaped praises on the Pharaohs while expressing that his side will now do all they can to go all the way in the tournament.
“We are very happy to have reached the final. It was not easy against a good side like Egypt,” Thiaw said after the match.
“My players were determined to win the match and their determination showed on the pitch.
“I pay tribute to Egypt as they played well and gave us a very good match. Now we will focus on preparing for the final and will apply ourselves to it.”
