2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 17
Real Madrid v Sevilla
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu
Madrid, Spain
Saturday, 20 December 2025
Kick-off is at 22h00
Real Madrid will be looking to close out the year with back-to-back wins in La Liga when Sevilla visit the Bernabeu on Saturday, December 20 in the late kick-off.
Los Blancos bounced back from their second defeat of the season (a 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo) as they beat Alaves 2-1 on December 14 to remain within four points of league leaders Barcelona in second place.
Xabi Alonso's side still have the joint-second-best defensive record in the league (16) despite conceding six goals in their last five matches and keeping just one clean sheet.
With the top-five teams all winning on matchday 16, it will be crucial for Real to end 2025 on a high to apply pressure on arch-rivals Barca in the title race.

The Palanganas climbed back into the top half of the table after claiming a resounding 4-0 victory over relegation-threatened Real Oviedo on December 14.
Matias Almeyda side's had only managed to pick up one point from their previous three outings and it was only the fourth time this term that their goal hadn't been breached.
The Andalusian outfit leapfrogged Alaves, Elche and Getafe into ninth spot and find themselves just four points outside the European berths.

Alonso described the win against the Babazorros as an "important moment" given the absence of some players through injury and suspension and wants to build on that going into the new year.
"We're very focused on what we're doing. We're together, every day preparing for a match every three days," the Spaniard said.
"I give a lot of merit to the victory, because we came in with a lot of injuries, suspended players... We're in this together. One match isn't enough. Before the break, we have the Copa on Wednesday and then the last home match against Sevilla.
"There's a long way to go and it was an important moment, but we have to build on the good things we did today."
