NBA champions Boston Celtics will be looking to keep the pressure on the Eastern Conference leaders when they take on Milwaukee Bucks at the TD Garden on the morning of Saturday, December 7.
The Celtics are one of the frontrunners in the East after losing just four of their opening 21 games in the regular season, with Jayson Tatum once again spearheading their challenge which has seen him average 28.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
Joe Mazzulla's team occupy second place in the standings and are 1.5 games back to the Cleveland Cavaliers after losing to them on December 2 (115-111) before bouncing back with a 108-89 victory over Miami Heat one day later.
Jaylen Brown starred against the Heat, scoring a game-high 29 points, while Payton Pritchard continued to impress off the bench as he added another 25 points.
It was the fourth straight game that Pritchard had contributed 20-plus points as a reserve and Mazzulla praised his work ethic to be able to consistently make an impact.
"He's had it in him his entire career and we kind of talked about this last night. You know, you see guys in his position that get drafted to good teams and it's tough for them to kind of make it because there's a lot of uncertainty and, you know, he came into the league playing a lot," Mazzulla told Zolak & Bertrand.
"Then Kemba Walker came back, and the next few years were kind of up and down. He just continued to compete at a high, high level, continue to work, never wavered in his work ethic and his confidence.
"Now, you're seeing him just kind of grow into a complete player. You know, he can impact the game in so many different ways, offense and defense. We're blessed to have him."
The Bucks got off to a slow start, losing eight of their first 10 games, but they've started to turn things around after recording eight wins from their next 10 encounters.
A 128-107 triumph over Detroit Pistons on December 4 extended their winning streak to seven games and Doc Rivers' team are fifth in the Eastern Conference after improving their record to 11-9.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charge against the Pistons with 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Damian Lillard chipped in with another 27 points.
Milwaukee advanced to the NBA Cup quarter-finals in the process and Rivers has set his sights on going all way, saying: "They put a tournament in front of us, and we want to win it."
