The 2024 Austrian MotoGP is set to be in a city located in the Bezirk Murtal in Styria, Austria called Spielberg on 18 August.

What to know about the Austrian MotoGP

The inaugural Austrian MotoGP was held in 1971 at the Salzburgring, where it stayed until 1994, but in 1995, it was taken off the calendar because the Salzburgring was deemed too dangerous for racing.

However, it would return in 1996 on the then-called Österreichring and in 1997, it became the A1-Ring, named after the Austrian mobile network operator A1 and Red Bull currently owns it as the name Red Bull Ring.

Most recent race

The British MotoGP which was the 10th round on the 2024 MotoGP World Championship calendar took place on 4 August.

The race was won by Enea Bastianini who was followed by his Ducati teammates Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia who finished second and third respectively.

Standings

Martin is placed at the top of the 2024 MotoGP riders' standings followed by Bagnaia and Bastianini respectively.

Looking at the constructors' standings, Ducati are placed at the top - followed by Aprilia and KTM respectively as the battle for the 2024 championship continues.

Favourites

Bagnaia, Martin and Bastianini will be the favourites to win the Austrian MotoGP due to their good form in the last few months.

Ducati's Marc Marquez, who has eight Grand Prix World Championships to his name, will be targeting an elusive Austrian MotoGP title.

Quotes

Maverick Vinales of Aprilia finished fifth at the 2024 British MotoGP behind four Ducati bikes and he is placed fifth in the riders' standings.

"In the last four races, we have had truly high rear tyre wear and from the seventh lap here, I had no more grip," Vinales said.

"The only thing I could do was to try to finish the race. We need to work on improving the second part of the race."
