2024 Italian Grand Prix
Round 16
Monza Circuit
Monza, Italy
Sunday, 1 September 2024
Charles Leclerc will be hoping to win the Italian Grand Prix for the second time in his career when he competes in Monza.
Most recent race
The Ferrari driver secured a podium spot at the Dutch Grand Prix on 25 August, the most recent race in the 2024 Formula One World Championship season.
Leclerc started on the sixth grid and he passed several cars which saw him finish third - collecting 15 points from the event staged in the Netherlands.
Formula One title ambitions
The 2017/18 FIA Rookie of the Year remains third on the World Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 192 points.
Leclerc is now 103 points behind leader, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and 33 points behind second-placed Lando Norris of McLaren.
Why Leclerc could win the 2024 Italian Grand Prix
The 26-year-old was crowned champion at the 2019 Italian Grand Prix - becoming the first Ferrari driver to win the event since Fernando Alonso won it in 2010.
Leclerc will be determined to secure his second win in Italy - the home of Ferrari and also close the gap on Norris and Verstappen.
What did he say?
"It’s not often that I would say I am happy with a P3, but today, I am extremely happy with the job the team has done on such a difficult weekend," Leclerc said after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix.
"We struggled in all sessions since FP1, and managed to put it all together when it matters most. We found the pace we needed, executed a perfect strategy, undercut our competitors and kept them behind.
"It feels great to start the second half of the season like this. Next up is Monza, our home race. We will give it our all to make our tifosi proud there."
