2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 2
Liverpool v Brentford
Anfield
Liverpool, England
Sunday, 25 August 2024
Kick-off is at 17h30
Liverpool will be keen to build on their first victory under Arne Slot when Brentford arrive at Anfield for the late kick-off on Sunday, August 25.
Slot kicked off his tenure with a 2-0 win over
Premier League newcomers Ipswich at Portman Road on August 17, having replaced the beloved Jurgen Klopp at the helm in the off-season.
The Dutchman has big shoes to fill after Klopp won the hearts of the red side of Merseyside by adding eight pieces of silverware to the trophy cabinet during his nine-year spell.
The Reds have a good record against the Bees, winning four of their six meetings in the Premier League, with
their solitary loss (3-1) coming on 2 January 2023 in the capital.

Thomas Frank's side also made a positive start to proceedings in 2024-25 as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in a London derby at the Brentford Community Stadium on August 18.
Frank will be hoping for a better performance from his players this time around after losing both home (4-1) and away (3-0) to the Merseyside giants last term.
Slot was pleased to get a response from his players in the second half after they struggled to assert themselves on the Tractor Boys in the opening 45 minutes.
"Jurgen [Klopp] hated the 12.30pm kick-off and we played like we hated the 12.30pm kick-off as we weren't in the game in the first half," he said.
"People told me there were no easy games in the Premier League and that showed today. Ipswich made it so difficult for us in the first half and there's more of that to come.
"It wasn't the first time in nine years that Liverpool have played well. I've inherited a really good team with great individuals. The players have to understand it wasn't enough in the first half.
"If they play at their maximum capacity then they can be really good. It was good to see the goals we scored."
Frank admits the win against the Eagles has given his players a timely lift ahead of the trip to Anfield as they attempt to arrest a three-match losing streak to Liverpool.
"I'm feeling unbelievable! We're sitting here, in the sun, it's a lovely Sunday afternoon, and we just got three points in the Premier League - there are very few things that can match that feeling," the Dane declared.
"It was a fairly even game but we managed to edge it, which is a big quality. A win is always important, in every aspect. It just gives us a boost - but I want more. We need to have a good week, we go to Anfield next weekend, and we'll see what we can do there."
