2024/25 La Liga
Matchday 32
Espanyol v Getafe
RCDE Stadium
Barcelona, Spain
Friday, 18 April 2025
Kick-off is at 21:00
Espanyol will be locking horns with Getafe in a
La Liga clash at the RCDE Stadium on Friday evening, 18 April.
The team from Barcelona will be gunning for three points in this one, as they find themselves in 15
th place in the league standings, and a bit too close for comfort to the bottom three.
Espanyol head coach Manolo Gonzalez has been under a load of pressure, with a number of fans calling for his sacking due to poor results. The coach defended himself in the media recently.
“I can’t know where the shots are going. People tell me to collect my contract, but I don’t care about that. I have self-respect and pride and I don’t want to be kicked out of anywhere. What I want is to finish my contract,” he says.
Meanwhile, Getafe are coming off the back of a 3-1 defeat to Las Palmas and will be looking to bounce back against a struggling Espanyol.
Diego Rico’s 33
rd minute red card caused the Madrid team to fall apart in the clash, despite Omar Aldrete opening the scoring and having the team in the driving seat.
Getafe will be hoping to keep Aldrete in the team, with a number of reports stating that the Paraguayan could be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur come next season.
The centre-back has been clutch this season, and Spurs insider John Wenham is happy to have a defender linked with the club.
“If this is true, then the player should be signed by 1
st January. He has a release clause, so Tottenham know what the deal is. Have the money transferred by 9 am on 1 January and the player will be on his way to North London,” he said.
“I don’t know much about this player. However, I trust our scouting team, they have signed some other lesser-known players who have proven to be good signings, so why can’t they do that again?”
