Wimbledon Men’s Singles Quarterfinals Preview

The Men’s Singles Quarterfinal matches will be the highlight of Wednesday’s play at Wimbledon 2017, with four cracking matches on the cards.

Number 1 seed Andy Murray has had a relatively smooth path through the last eight, with only his Third Round match against unpredictable Fabio Fognini proving tricky. He comes up against American Sam Querrey, who has a great serve and powerful ground strokes, but lacks the all-round game to trouble the home crowd favorite. Number 7 seed Marin Cilic will believe he has a great chance to go through the final four, but in Gilles Muller he faces a determined opponent who proved his mental strength with an epic five-set win over Rafael Nadal in the Fourth Round. The Luxembourg player defeated the Spaniard 15-13 in the final set, with his superb serving skills underpinning a famous victory. Arguably the pick of the Quarterfinals sees Roger Federer come up against Canadian Milos Raonic. The latter played superbly to defeat Alexander Zverev in five sets and book his place in the last eight, but will have to raise his level even further when he comes up against the Swiss master, who has serenely eased to this point of the tournament seemingly without breaking a sweat. And finally, former Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic will come up against determined Czech player Tomas Berdych. The Serbian had his Fourth Round match against Adrian Mannarino delayed to Tuesday, but he eased past the Frenchman in three sets and shouldn't be too fatigued for the challenge offered by Berdych, who has the game to beat the best on tour but often lacks the killer edge.
