The rumours that plagued Golden State Warriors and NBA Finals MVP, Kevin Durant’s 2018/19 season, finally came true when Durant signed for the Brooklyn Nets. He is now paired with his close friend Kyrie Irving, who also had a lack-luster season in Boston.

Add these trades to an already exciting forthcoming NBA season, and we have ourselves a melting pot of thrilling match-ups on the horizon.

Let’s take a look at some NBA games to look forward to.

Golden State Warriors v Brooklyn Nets

 Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leondard

Let’s get this fixture out of the way, for obvious reasons. For the entire 18/19 season, it was speculated that Durant will be leaving NBA Champions, Golden State Warriors, following a fallout with teammate Draymond Green.

This marked one of the darkest timelines for the defending champions as this caused a division in the dressing room. Although the relationship was later mended between the two stars, it was obvious the damage was done and Kevin would wait for his free agency to kick in to make his move.

It will be very interesting to observe the reception Kevin Durant gets in Golden State from his former teammates and fans, as this could mark a new rivalry in the NBA matchups.

Boston Celtics v Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving
Although Kyrie Irving didn’t leave the Celtics under controversial circumstances, he did however admit his season was a “failure”, which probably was a catalyst for this move to the Nets.

Boston fans are famous for being, uhm, vocal about their thoughts and will most likely let Kyrie know about how they feel when the Nets visit the TD Garden. Proving who is better in the Eastern Conference will also serve as an incentive for both teams going into the NBA Playoffs.

Los Angeles Lakers v Los Angeles Clippers

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m disappointed that Kawhi snubbed a move to the Lakers and opted for their city rivals, the Clippers instead. It seemed, from all indications, that this was a two team race: either Kawhi stays at the Raptors or he signs for the Lakers.

The Lakers had the inside track and were well on course to securing one of the leagues most talented and coveted players in Kawhi, who went on to lead the Raptors to their first NBA Championship winning season.

However, Magic Johnson helped do in the team he loved so much when he briefly spoke about a meeting between the Lakers and Kawhi’s representatives.

Anthony Davis

The Lakers have Anthony Davis and Lebron James to take on Kawhi Leondard and Paul George, making this game a must-see in the forthcoming season.

Philadelphia 76ers v Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis
Although the Raptors were a bigger threat to the Bucks going into the 18/19 Playoff Finals, this did not make the 76ers any less of a competitive outfit.

With both teams boasting superstar talent, this is sure shaping up to be one of the classic matchups in the regular season and a prelude to the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Giannis will show up and show out, reminding us why he is the leagues MVP, while Simmons and Embiid will look to stamp their authority all over this encounter.
