South Africa will take on Burkina Faso in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification Group D match in Johannesburg on Saturday. Bafana Bafana were beaten 2-1 by Cape Verde in their previous group match in Durban last month. South Africa need to defeat Burkina Faso in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for the finals alive. The defeat to Cape Verde extended Bafana's winless run in World Cup quallifers to three matches. Their last win was against Angola two years ago.
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso held Senegal to a 2-2 draw in their previous group match in Ouagadougou last month. The Stallions will edge closer to qualifying for the finals if they secure a victory in South Africa. The draw against Senegal extended Burkina Faso's unbeaten streak in World Cup qualifiers to six games. Their last defeat was against Benin two years ago.
