2024/25 Betway Premiership
Matchday 8
SuperSport United v Marumo Gallants
Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium
Pretoria, South Africa
Friday, 29 November 2024
Kick-off is at 19h30
SuperSport United will be targeting a first win in three
Betway Premiership outings when host Marumo Gallants at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Friday, November 29.
Matsatsantsa are unbeaten in their last three matches, but they've failed to score against Golden Arrows and Chippa United most recently which resulted in back-to-back goalless draws.
Goals have been a problem for Gavin Hunt's side this season and they're the joint-lowest scorers in the league (2) alongside Richards Bay after eight fixtures.
The Tshwane giants find themselves just one point outside the top eight in ninth position, although Arrows (8th), Sekhukhune United (7th) and Kaizer Chiefs (6th) all have games in hand.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have struggled for results since being promoted, winning only one of their opening six matches to sit one point clear of rock-bottom AmaZulu in 15th place.
Dan Malesela's side haven't been in action in the league for a month, but they did make it to the Carling Knockout semi-finals before bowing out to Mamelodi Sundowns with a 2-0 defeat.
Gallants were beaten 1-0 by Stellenbosch in their last top-flight encounter on October 31, having picked up four points from their previous two games against Usuthu (a 1-0 win) and TS Galaxy (a 1-1 draw).
Hunt welcomed back Bradley Grobler for the trip to Chippa and believes his team will only get better as the injuries begin to ease up.
"You can see, with Bradley first, he obviously hasn't played since August [and it] is a long time. But at least he got some mileage. Yes he lacks sharpness - it's inevitable, he's had a major operation.
"We looked better with our players back, we need all our players. 'I thought when we changed the shape, I thought we were good.
"It is very difficult to play against Chippa - they work it from the back to the front and they are very good in the air. But once we got some passing range, to be fair we had some good chances."
