DP World Tour Championship
November 15-18
Jumeirah Golf Estates
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Tommy Fleetwood will be aiming to defend his Race to Dubai title with victory at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates this week.
The Englishman is one of only two contenders for the Race to Dubai title following this season's penultimate event, the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted in South Africa this past weekend.
Fleetwood, last year's winner, and Italy’s Francesco Molinari will go head-to-head to be crowned European No 1. Current British Open champion, Molinari, leads the standings with 4,709,921 points, while Ryder Cup partner, bestie and reigning European No 1 Fleetwood, sits in second spot having accumulated 3,684,755 points thus far.
Molinari will clinch the trophy with a finish of solo second or better, while Fleetwood needs a victory, with Molinari finishing worse than a tie for fifth with one other.
Fleetwood beat fellow Englishman Justin Rose to the title 12 months ago with Spain's Jon Rahm having clinched victory in the season finale tournament.
FedExCup champion and last year's Race to Dubai runner-up, Justin Rose, will play no part at Jumeirah Golf Estates' season ending tournament after deciding to withdraw. He still had a small chance of winning the Race to Dubai title, but decided not to make the trip.
