The
2022 Players Championship will take place at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA between 11 and 13 March.
Originally known as the Tournament Players Championship, this PGA Tour tournament began in 1974 with the 2020 event having been cancelled after the first round due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It currently offers the highest prize fund of any tournament in golf ($20 million), overtaking the US Open's $12.5 million purse, and despite not being a major, it has been the tour, dubbed the fifth major.

Justin Thomas is the defending champion having won The Players Championship last year by one stroke over Lee Westwood.
This year's The Players Championship field is headlined by the likes of Thomas, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, Hideki Matsuyama, Brooks Koepka and more.
It will be a 156-player field and the event is set to be played out over four days, with this event marking the 18th tournament of the 2021-22 PGA Tour schedule.
Rory McIlroy, Kim Si-woo and Webb Simpson, who have all won this tournament in the past, will also tee off at the TPC Sawgrass.
Harris English, Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, and Tiger Woods are the only qualified players to not commit to this year's tournament.

"If a player is eligible and healthy they will be here for The Players Championship," tournament director Jared Rice said.
"That's what we're planning for. Today we are announcing Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, and Hideki Matsuyama have committed to The Players at this point we have come to expect if a player is healthy they are going to be here."
Jack Nicklaus is the most successful golfer in the history of The Players Championship having won the tournament a record three times.
