The 2018 U.S. Open is set to start this week and is scheduled to get underway at Shinnecock Hills Golf Course in the United States of America between 14-17 June.
 
With the tournament set to start with first-round action on Thursday, it is expected to offer plenty of excitement as it is one of the world’s biggest golf tournaments.



A look at last year’s tournament at the Erin Hills in Wisconsin (US), Brooks Koepka tied the U.S. Open scoring record and won his first career major championship by four strokes over Brian Harman and Hideki Matsuyama. 
 
In this year’s edition, South Africa’s Ernie Els also forms part of the line-up and is one of five golfers who have competed in the last three U.S. Opens at Shinnecock. The other four golfers are Kenny Perry, Steve Stricker, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
 
The World Ranked number one golfer, Dustin Johnson is the odds on favourite to lift the title while Rory Mcilroy, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Jason Day among the other favourites. 
 
Many have also touted this tournament as the time for Tiger Woods to shine who is among the top ten in favourites to lift the title at Shinnecock Hills.
