Royal London Series 2022
One Day International Format
1st ODI
England v South Africa
Emirates Riverside
Chester, England

South Africa will be without captain Temba Bavuma when they take on England in the first
One Day International of their three-match Royal London Series on Tuesday, July 19.
Bavuma will play no part in the Proteas' tour of England after sustaining an elbow injury whilst at the crease in the fourth T20I against India last month.
Keshav Maharaj will skipper the team in his absence, while Kagiso Rabada is being rested as South Africa look to manage the pace bowler's workload.

There is a recall for batter Rilee Rossouw, who last played international cricket in October 2016 during the T20 World Cup in India, and a maiden call-up for seam bowler Gerald Coetzee.
The last time the Proteas toured England was in 2017 when they lost the three-match series 2-1, and Maharaj is hoping the team will be able to better adapt to the conditions on this occasion.
"I've only played two ODIs in England, but maybe we were too slow to adapt to the conditions. I remember the series when I was involved, we lost 2-1 and only found our rhythm in the last ODI so hopefully, we can adapt," the spin bowler said.
"We have a lot of new personnel in the team compared to where it was a few years ago, so hopefully, that exuberance of youth can add some add things to the squad and rectify things sooner rather than later for the squad."
England haven't made the best of starts under Jos Buttler, who has lost three of his four games since taking over the captaincy from Eoin Morgan following his retirement.

The world champions are currently involved in a three-game series against India and it is the first time that Buttler, Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes are playing together since winning the World Cup in 2019.
"It's a long time since we have all played together and it's tough. I think the schedules are increasingly difficult for all format players to play all the games, so we just have to be careful to manage all those guys," he said.
"The key is to turn up to those ICC events clear with what your best team is, but also with guys fresh and as good to go in those tournaments as they can be.
"There will be times in bilateral series that guys miss out because it is just unattainable for guys to play every match."
