The second season of the highly-anticipated
SA 20 gets underway on the second week of January as Sunrisers Eastern Cape look to defend their title.
The opening match sees Sunrisers Eastern Cape take on Joburg Super Kings at St George's Park on Wednesday, January 10.
The Super Kings beat Sunrisers on both occasions last season, winning by 5 wickets in the Eastern Cape and by 24 runs in Gauteng.
Aaron Phangiso (4/20 in four overs) and Faf du Plessis (92 off 61) were named Player of the Match in Gqeberha and Johannesburg respectively.
Durban's Super Giants and MI Cape Town will be targeting an improvement when they clash at Kingsmead on Thursday, January 11.
The two teams failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2022-23 after they finished outside the top four in the points table.
The Super Giants came out on top in both meetings last term, winning by 5 wickets in the Western Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Kyle Mayers (34 off 23 and 1/10) and Quinton de Kock (63 off 41) were named Player of the Match in Cape Town and Durban respectively.
Last season's losing finalists Pretoria Capitals open their campaign against Paarl Royals at Boland Park on Friday, January 12.
Both teams made home advantage count in 202-23, with the Royals winning by 6 wickets in the Western Cape and the Capitals triumphing by 59 runs in Gauteng.
David Miller (28 off 14) Kusal Mendis (80 off 41) were named Player of the Match in Paarl and Pretoria respectively.
Then on Saturday, January 13, Joburg Super Kings host MI Cape Town at the Wanderers, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape entertain Durban's Super Giants at St George's Park.
MI Cape Town won by 7 wickets at Newlands last year, but the Super Kings bounced back with a 76-run victory in Johannesburg.
Sunrisers comprehensively beat the Super Giants by 124 runs in Gqeberha last year and the return fixture in Durban was washed out.
Pretoria Capitals welcome Paarl Royals to Centurion Park on Sunday, January 14 and Durban's Super Giants go head to head with Joburg Super Kings at Kingsmead on Monday, January 15.
The Capitals clinched top spot when they beat the Royals by 59 runs in Centurion on the final day of the round-robin matches, having lost by 6 wickets in Paarl in the reverse fixture.
Meanwhile, Super Kings emerged victorious in both outings against the Super Giants last term, winning by 16 runs in Durban and 8 wickets in Johannesburg,
