Collin Morikawa has an opportunity to move to the top of the Official World
Golf Ranking when he competes at the Tournament of Champions.
The American is set to make his third consecutive appearance at the event, having finished seventh in both 2020 and 2021.
Morikawa is currently ranked second in the world and has five PGA Tour victories to his name, most recently winning the Open Championship in July 2021.

He became the first player to win two different majors at the first attempt after also taking home the PGA Championship title in August 2020.
The 24-year-old came close to winning his first tournament of the 2021/22 season when he finished runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the CJ Cup in October last year.

Morikawa is aiming to take his game up another notch this year after closing out 2021 with victory at the DP World Tour Championship, which saw him become the first American to win the Race to Dubai.
"It's not an encore, it's not a swansong farewell to what I'm doing in 2021," he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"I'm going to set some high goals. I always have. I'm going to set the bar as high as I can get and keep going.
"I'm still not No. 1 in the world, so I still have a lot to work on in my game."
