2021-22 NBA Regular Season

Monday 24 January 2022

Tip-off at 01:00

The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers will have a crunch clash in the NBA Regular Season when they meet at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida on the morning of Monday 24 January 2022. Tip-off is at 01:00.

The Heat have put themselves firmly in the top three in the Eastern Conference, where they are scrapping with the Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks to finish top of the table. This past weekend saw them stretched to keep up their momentum, as they rallied late to defeat the Atlanta Hawks 124-118 at home.

"I love the spirit of our group," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, while star man Jimmy Butler added: “When the game's on the line, we've got guys that step up.”

Miami will also be hopeful Bam Adebayo returns from injury this week: “[Adebayo has been doing] three-a-day workouts just because he has so much extra energy,” said Spoelstra. “He'll be back soon enough.”

The Lakers, meanwhile, are mid-table in the Western Conference and have struggled to find long spells of consistency throughout the season. Last week saw them suffer a 125-116 loss at the hands of the Sacramento Kings, a result which emphasised all of their current issues.

"It's been an up-and-down season, that's why we're at .500," LeBron James said. "The third quarter tonight, their tempo was too much for us. We couldn't handle it.”

"For the second game in a row, our defence let us down," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. "We have to figure out what we're doing there and be better in that situation.

In head-to-head stats, the Heat and the Lakers have met in ?? Regular Season games since 1988-89, with Los Angeles claiming 38 wins compared to 29 for Miami. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in November 2021, with the Lakers winning 120-117 at home, after overtime, thanks to 27 and 25 points from Malik Monk and Russell Westbrook respectively.
