Rafael Nadal will chase the opening Grand Slam title of 2019 when he faces old rival Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open Men’s Singles Final at the Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park on Sunday 27 January.
 
Rafael Nadal defeated rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinal.
 
Nadal, who has won 17 Grand Slam titles in his career (including one Australian Open in 2009), has defeated James Duckworth, Matthew Ebden, Alex De Minaur, Tomas Berdych, Frances Tiafoe and Stefanos Tsistipas en route to the final.
 
The 32-year-old Spaniard has shrugged off previous injury worries and is playing some of the best tennis of his career, with a more aggressive service game at the heart of his resurgence.

Djokovic, a 14-time Grand Slam winner and six-time Australian Open champion, has fought his way past Mitchell Krueger, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Denis Shapovalov, Kei Nishikori (retired) and Lucas Pouille.
 
The number-one ranked player in the world and top seed, 31-year-old Djokovic will enter Sunday’s final as the favourite.
 
Novak Djokovic has six Australian Open titles to his name.
 
In head-to-head terms, Nadal and Djokovic have met in 52 previous matches. The Serbian has claimed 27 wins compared to 25 for the Spaniard, while Djokovic was victorious in their last match, an epic semifinal at Wimbledon last year which ended 6-4 3-6 7-6(9) 3-6 10-8.
 
The pair’s only previous meeting in the Australian Open final was in 2012, with Djokovic outlasting his rival to claim a 5–7 6–4 6–2 6–7 (5-7) 7–5 triumph.
