Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will be keen to return to winning ways at the Tuscan Grand Prix in Scarperia e San Piero, Italy on September 13.

The British superstar is coming off a disappointing race at the Italian Grand Prix where he finished seventh last weekend.

Hamilton failed to secure a podium finish for the first time in Italy since 2013 when he finished ninth in the Italian Grand Prix.

Scuderia AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly won this year's Italian Grand Prix in a race which was full of surprises.

While Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Jr of McLaren finished second and Canadian driver Lance Stroll of Racing Point finished on position three.

However, reigning Formula One world champion Hamilton is still placed at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 164 points.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas is now placed second with 117 points, while Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is placed third having collected 110 points.

Hamilton was given a 10-second stop-go penalty in the Italian Grand Prix after the stewards ruled he entered the pit lane illegally.

The 35-year-old admitted that the penalty was his fault and he was pleased that Verstappen didn't score any points as he was forced to retire.

"Firstly, we didn't do a great job necessarily with the pit stop. I just didn't see those boards so I take responsibility for that," Hamilton told Sky Sports.

"It is something that we will learn from. To get seventh and still get the fastest lap is still good points and I definitely didn't think that was possible from 26 seconds behind the last car.

"I will definitely take it and grateful obviously that Max didn't score any points. Not a huge loss today."

Mercedes are placed at the top of Constructors' standings followed by second-placed Red Bull and third-placed McLaren-Renault.
