The Hornets have quietly crept up the Eastern Conference standings and look a decent bet to qualify for the Playoffs. One of their major issues has been falling behind in games and then having to scramble to make comebacks. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes Charlotte loses games it shouldn’t.

"We did come back a lot, just couldn't finish it," said key player LaMelo Ball. "It's kind of tight right now. If we want to make the playoffs, it's going to be tight down the stretch." He added, "Guys coming out of their comfort zone and playing on a string if we want to compete.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, have been racking up some impressive results in the Western Conference and look to be challenging to join the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors as the elite teams on the Pacific side of the league.

Memphis has become renowned for a tough, physical style of play – something they make no apologies for. "There ain't no running in the M, man," Ja Morant said. "We climb up the chimney. We ain't ducking no smoke. We're gonna let everybody know we're here. We're gonna play hard. We're trying to get a win, and if you don't like it? Oh well.”
Jaren Jackson added, “You know how we play. We play with energy, we play with intensity. We love that. That brings joy to us, that back-and-forth. [...] We're competing for something huge.”
In head-to-head stats, the Hornets and the Grizzlies have met in 46 Regular Season games since 1995-96, with Charlotte claiming 25 wins compared to 21 for Memphis. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in November 2021, with the Hornets winning 118-108 away thanks to 37 points from Kelly Oubre Jr.
