2019/20 Premier League
Round 28
28 February – 1 March 2020
Newcastle United will look for a key win over Burnley when the teams meet at St James’ Park on Saturday 29 February 2020, kick-off at 17:00. The match is one of eight spread from 28 February to 1 March for the 28
th round of the
2019/20 Premier League season, with two fixtures postponed due to the League Cup final between Manchester City and Aston Villa.
Newcastle have gone four league matches without a win following a 1-0 loss away to Crystal Palace last weekend, a result which sees them slip ever closer to the relegation zone.
Manager Steve Bruce, who kept faith with the same players that lost 4-0 at Arsenal the week before, has hinted that he will make changes for the visit of Burnley: “We had a lot of possession [against Palace] but unfortunately kept giving the thing away. We got ourselves in good situations but nothing happened. The one thing you have to do to win a game in the Premier League is score a goal. So we’ll monitor it, have a look at it and say maybe it’s time for a change.”

Burnley continued their fine form (13 points from the last 15 available) with a 3-0 home win over Bournemouth in which Matej Vydra, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil all scored.
“It was in interesting game for many reasons. I wasn't happy with everything I saw, but I'm delighted with the result," said Clarets boss Dyche. “It was probably an anomaly of a game with the VAR moments, because I don't think you'll see too many like that.”
In head-to-head stats, Newcastle and Burnley have met in 106 previous matches. Their record is dead-even, with 43 wins apiece alongside 20 draws.
When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at Turf Moor in December 2019, Burnley claimed a 1-0 home win thanks to a second-half goal from Chris Wood.
