2025/26 Premier League

Matchday 18

Manchester United v Newcastle United

Old Trafford

Manchester, England

Friday, 26 December 2025

Kick-off is at 22h00

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on 26 December.

Current Form

The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa away on 21 December and they are now winless in their last two matches in the league.

United are also winless in their last three home matches in the Premier League, having recorded two consecutive draws and one defeat at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Newcastle were held to a 2-2 draw by Chelsea FC at home on 20 December and they are winless in their last two matches in the Premier League.

The Magpies have lost two of their last three away matches in the league, while the other game ended in a victory over Everton FC as the visitors.

Team News

United have no suspension concerns, but Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are all on the 13-time Premier League champions' injury list.

The Red Devils will also be without the trio of Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) and Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco), who are on national duty at the 2025 AFCON.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have William Osula, Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento and Nick Pope on their injury list, but the Tyneside side have no suspension worries.

Quotes

"I think we are improving in the last games. We have a lot of issues to solve, for all the problems we are dealing with lately, I think we did a very good job," United manager Ruben Amorim said after his side's defeat to Villa.

"Like the other matches, even when we win, I am always saying let's not just focus on the result. It's painful, of course, but focus on the performance and the performance was good.

"So we need to continue that and take it for the next game."

Head-to-Head

Newcastle secured a 4-1 win over United in their last meeting in the league, which was in April 2025 at St James' Park.

As a result, the Magpies are undefeated in their last two Premier League games against the Red Devils, having recorded two wins.
