Current Form
The White and Reds drew 2-2 with Villarreal CF away on 1 December as they extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Girona are also unbeaten in their last two matches in the competition having registered two victories in a row at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi.
Meanwhile, Madrid emerged as 2-0 winners over Getafe CF at home on 1 December as they extended their unbeaten run to three matches in La Liga.
Los Blancos are also undefeated in their last 21 away matches in the competition having registered eight draws and 13 victories as the visitors.
Team News
Girona could be without the injured duo of Yangel Herrera and Gabriel Osei Misehouy, but the club has no suspension worries coming into this match.
Vinícius Júnior, Éder Militão, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are all on Madrid's injury list and the champions have no suspension worries.
Quotes
"The team looks good to me, focused, balanced and with a good attitude. We controlled the game well and deservedly won it," Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said after his side's win over Getafe.
"It's natural to drop off a bit after 75 minutes because we've had several one-on-ones and also because we played on Wednesday night and got back at 6 am on Thursday. In spite of the challenges and the numerous injuries, we're there, fighting.
"The fact that we've got our attitude back, our concentration and our spirit, fills me with more confidence. We're going to solve the problems gradually and, in the meantime, we're there fighting."
Head-to-Head
Madrid hammered Girona 4-0 in their last meeting in La Liga with the match taking place at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on 10 February.
As a result, Los Blancos are unbeaten in their last two league matches against the White and Reds having registered two consecutive wins.
