2019/20 Premier League
Round 15
3-5 December 2019
Just under a year after being sacked by Manchester United, Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford as manager of Tottenham Hotspur for a clash on Wednesday 4 December 2019, kick-off at 21:30 CAT. The match is one of 10 spread from 3-5 December in the 15th round of the current Premier League season.
Man United’s stuttering form continued this past weekend when they were held 2-2 at home by promoted side Aston Villa. The result leaves the Red Devils in a lowly ninth place – eight points adrift of the top four.
"We are a young team. I don't want to use that as an excuse because we are Man United and we want to get a run together. As soon as we get a run of three or four games together here now, that's what we need. That's what these boys need, I feel,” said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is coming under increasing pressure in his post.
"We just have to make sure we do everything right now until Wednesday because it's a short turnaround.”

Tottenham, meanwhile, racked up a third straight win across all competitions since Mourimho’s arrival, as they defeated Bournemouth 3-2 at home on Saturday. A brace from the rejuvenated Dele Alli inspired Spurs to a result which has lifted them to fifth place on the table.
“But I would be much, much more worried if we couldn’t produce good football, if we couldn’t score goals, then I would be much more worried, if the team didn’t have the spirit and resilience until the end. Three matches, no time to rest, really hard - but amazing spirit,” said Mourinho ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.
In head-to-head stats, Man United and Tottenham have met in 162 previous matches. The Red Devils have claimed 85 wins compared to 38 for Spurs, while 39 games have been drawn.
Last season the teams’ two Premier League meetings both produced away wins: Spurs triumphed 3-0 at Old Trafford in August 2018, while United won 1-0 in the return game at Wembley in January 2019.
