The 2018 South African Open will take place on Randpark Golf Club’s two championship courses from 6–9 December 2018.
The tournament forms part of the European Tour and Asian Tour.
The field of 240 players are expected to compete for R17.5 million in prize money with the City of Johannesburg having been announced as the new sponsor.
South African professionals Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel, Brandon Stone and Ernie Els are expected to take part in the competition.
Chris Paisley, who hails from England, won the previous tournament and it was his first European Tour victory.
Other players, who are expected to compete in this year's competition are Matt Saulez, Christo Lamprecht, Deon Germishuys as well as Wilco Nienaber.
Jovan Rebula, who is the highest-ranked South African on the World Amateur Golf Rankings, will be looking to clinch the title.
Legendary South African golfer Gary Player is the most successful player in the tournament's history, with 13 victories over four decades between 1956 and 1981.
While Bobby Locke won nine titles, Sid Brews won eight titles, and George Fotheringham won the event five time.
