Following news that team training will restart in the Italian Serie A from next week amid the growing hope that the 2019-20 league season will be able to resume, we take a look at some of the outstanding goals of the campaign so far.
Defending champions Juventus currently lead the way in the league, one point clear of second placed Lazio with 12 rounds of fixtures still remaining.
Here follows five contenders for the Serie A goal of the season so far:
Radja Nainggolan
(Cagliari vs SPAL) - October 2019
The Belgium international has built quite the reputation for himself with a number of 'wonder strikes' in the Serie A over the years and has really been turning it on since rejoining Cagliari at the start of the season. The ball fell to Nainggolan outside the area and without a moments hesitation he brought it under control before arrowing an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner of the net which left the opposition goalkeeper bamboozled.
Jeremie Boga
(Sassuolo vs Torino) - January 2020
The Ivory Coast international is attracting growing interest from Europe's top clubs and with goals like these in his arsenal, it should come as no real surprise. With nothing on and his team trailing, Boga weaved his magic wand: the Sassuolo winger nutmegged one opponent before curling an inch-perfect shot past the opposing goalkeeper from 30-yards as his team ultimately claimed a comeback win.

Josip Ilicic
(Torino vs Atalanta) - January 2020
The Slovenian forward has been one of the star performers in Europe for a free-scoring Atalanta side this season. He really turned on the style in his club's 7-0 win over Torino earlier this year and on his way to a hat-trick on the night, he netted a goal of the season contender. With the goalkeeper off his line, Ilicic proceeded to take a free-kick quickly and to the surprise of the Torino defence he placed the ball into the back of the net from the halfway line with an exquisite left-footed finish.
Fabio Quagliarella
(Sampdoria vs Napoli) - February 2020
Class is permanent. No one has embraced that tag as much as the 37-year-old over the past few seasons and with this stunning goal against Napoli earlier this year, the veteran forward has showed signs of slowing down just yet. Albeit in a losing cause and little reason to celebrate, Quagliarella must've felt some joy when he shifted away from his marker before hammering a thunderbolt volley into the back of the net.
Joao Pedro
(Cagliari vs Roma) - March 2020
The Brazilian forward has been in hot form for Cagliari this season and showcased his class once more in the club's final game before the coronavirus pandemic halted football across the world. Pedro controlled a ball over the Roma defence with his thigh before letting it bounce and then scooping it over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net with a delightful lob finish.
