Bahrain Grand Prix
2019 Formula 1 season, Round 2
Bahrain International Circuit, 31 March 2019, 17h10 CAT
Valtteri Bottas will look to continue his strong start to the 2019 Formula 1 season when the Bahrain Grand Prix is held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on Sunday, 31 March, at 17h10 CAT.
Bottas made history in the season-opener in Melbourne earlier this month, where he claimed a full haul of 26 possible points – 25 for a dominant win and a bonus point for the fastest lap of the race.
The Finnish driver got the jump on Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton from the start and went on to cross the finish line in first place, breaking a win drought which stretched back to the final race of the 2017 season.
Hamilton will be looking to bounce back at the Bahrain GP, though it is a race he has not won since 2015.
The winner of the last two editions of the Bahrain race – and the overall record holder for the most victories (four) at the venue – is Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
Yet for the German to claim a fifth win in the Middle East, Ferrari will need to make a massive stride forward after they were outpaced by both Mercedes and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen at the opening round in Australia.
