We’re privileged to be living in an era where some of the greatest tennis athletes are still alive and are making history as we watch. Roger Federer, the greatest male tennis player to ever grace the court, Nadal an unstoppable force on the clay court and Novak Djokovic, the usurper, to name a few.
With the
US Open in full swing, let us take a look at some records that are still standing and those that may be rewritten soon.
Most Singles Titles
There have been many to grace the (hard, clay, grass) courts and so many individual titles won along the way. As far as singles titles won is concerned, Jimmy Connors leads the race with 109 titles and the Fed Express is right behind him with 99 career titles.

The Calendar Slam
The feat of winning all four Grand Slams in a one season is a rarity, which has only occurred three times on the ATP circuit. Rod Laver is responsible for two of those (1962 and 1969).
Oldest Player to Reach Number 1
This may be one of the hardest record to be broken, Roger Federer broke Andre Agassi’s record of the oldest number 1 ranked player at age 35. Andre was the oldest ranked player at 33 years old.

Spectacular Streaks
Tennis has never seen (and most likely will not see) one player dominate one Grand Slam tournament as Rafael Nadal has done with the French Open. He has won the title a staggering NINE TIMES and as he is still playing, he most likely will extend this record. To add to this, he has won 81 consecutive matches on clay between April 2005 and May 2007.
Total Weeks at number 1
Steffi Graf has spent the most weeks at number 1, more than any other tennis player in history, at 377 weeks. Roger holds the records for both the most weeks at number 1 and consecutive weeks, which is currently at 237.
Pete Sampras has ended the year at number 1 the most times with a consecutive six times.
The Longest Match
The longest match ever recorded was between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut which played for over 11 hours and 5 minutes. The match was so long that it had to be spread throughout 3 days and each player served over 100 aces each.
