Argentina will take on South Africa in their third match of the 2019 Rugby Championship at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena in Salta on Saturday.

The Pumas succumbed to a 16-10 defeat to Australia in their second match of this year's tournament which was played in Brisbane on Saturday, July 27.
 
This was Argentina's second successive defeat in the competition having lost their first match against New Zealand in Bueno Aires.  
 
They are placed fourth on the Rugby Championship standings having collected two points from two matches.
 
Fly-half Nicolás Sánchez, who has scored 11 points for Argentina in this year's tournament, will look to inspire his side to victory over South Africa.

Meanwhile, South Africa drew 16-16 with New Zealand in their second match in the competition which was played in Wellington on Saturday, July 27.
 
The Springboks had defeated Australia 35-17 in their opening game which was played in Johannesburg.

As a result, South Africa remain at the top of the tournament standings having accumulated seven points.

Scrum-half Herschel Jerome Jantjies, who has three tries in this year's tournament, will be keen to help South Africa overcome Argentina but will have to do so off the bench as Faf de Klerk starts ahead of him.

The last meeting between Argentina and South Africa was on the 25th of August 2018.

The Pumas beat the Springboks 32-19 in the 2018 Rugby Championship game which was played in Mendoza.
